Sick leave is funded by the Social Security System to the value of 80% of an employee's average salary for days 1-12 of the illness (and 70% afterward). Medical certificates are required for all sick leave.
Maternity leave is 126 days paid (increasing to 140 days in cases of multiple births or complications). Maternity leave can be extended to three years unpaid. If another child is born during that time, the paid maternity leave entitlement recommences.
