An exit interview is a meeting with an employee who is about to leave, or has recently left, an organization. The goal of the meeting is to discuss the employee’s reasons for leaving and their experience of working for the organization, with the goal of identifying any organizational shortcomings. HR will usually conduct exit interviews and prepare reports for management on areas where improvements can be made in an effort to retain staff.
