Employer-paid sick leave entitlement depends on an employee's length of service:
Paid and mandatory maternity leave is 16 weeks (eight before the due date and eight weeks after, extending to 12 in the case of a high-risk delivery or Caesarean). Social security pays for the maternity leave based on the employee's average earnings over the three months before the maternity leave began.
